SCT-200 Single Cell Test and Charge System Testing a single cell at a time is practical when a suspect cell has been identified by either voltage, specific gravity or internal resistance measurement. The single cell test approach avoids the over-testing of remaining cells and is often used in the telephone and nuclear industries. Many users identify suspect cells with an internal measurement device such as the Cellcorder, then test single cell capacity using an SCT-200 single cell discharge unit. The Alber SCT-200 may be used while the battery being tested is on-line. The instrument performs a programmable, constant current or profile discharge test, then a programmable, constant voltage recharge. Custom software, automatic operation, and safety circuits allow the user to program the unit and start the test. No supervision of the test system is required. The SCT-200 comes with all required equipment, including the discharge/charge unit, a color laptop computer, load cables, and SCT-200 Windows-based software. System Description The discharge/charge module consists of data acquisition circuits for reading voltages and currents; two separate 300 amp resistive load banks that may be connected independently to two cells, or together as a single 600 amp load bank; a 1.80 to 2.60 volt, 0 to 120 amp programmable charger; communication circuitry for interfacing via RS-232 to a computer; and safety circuitry to prevent damage to the battery under test.
