PC104-LPT\2COM232 LPT port and two COM ports with RS-232 protocol 16550 UART, PC/104 compliant Simple Type: CPU Board The PC104-LPT\2COM232 is a complete IBM PC standard parallel port and two standard PC serial communications ports on a single PC104 compliant card. It may be used as part of an I/O controller to communicate with serial devices such as modems, faxes, printers, and terminals. The ports are designed to be 100% compatible with DOS and Windows parallel and serial device drivers and so work with all standard printer and communications software. Although the card has a printer and two serial ports, it is not necessary to employ all in a system the PC104-LPT\2COM232 is installed in. As little as a single port may be enabled. Conversely, two PC104-LPT\2COM232 may be employed in a single system for a total of 2 parallel printer ports and 4 serial ports. The connections to printers, modems and other serial and parallel devices is make through three header connectors. The electrical specification of the PC104-LPT\2COM232 are identical to those of an personal computer parallel or serial communications port, and so will operate with all the devices your personal computer operates with. Parallel ports operate at distances of under 10 feet when driving psotscropt printer, and up to 50 feet for simple matrix printers. Serial RS232 ports are specified to 50 feet, but often operate well up to a few hundred feet.
