Its architecture is tailored for demanding applications such as servicing the telecom network and the Internet. The ZT 5551 High Availability Processor Board supports up to 12 CompactPCI peripheral boards, and when used in conjunction with a second ZT 5551 can provide 99.999 percent (five-nines) availability. It utilizes the Intel Coppermine BGA2 Pentium III processor to provide extremely high PCI performance and the latest in memory and I/O technology combined with low power requirements. The board is designed as a peripheral CPU for CompactPCI multiprocessing (compactnet) systems. The multiprocessing architecture accommodates one System Master processor board in the CompactPCI system slot and up to 32 peripheral processors, including the ZT 5541, sharing the same CompactPCI environment. It utilizes the Intel Pentium II Processor Mobile Module: Mobile Module Connector 2 (EMC-2) to provide extremely high PCI performance and the latest in memory and I/O technology. The board is designed to function as a System Master controlling the CompactPCI backplane. The ZT 5531 supports attachment of an optional 6U I/O Expansion Board (such as the ZT 96073 or ZT 96078). I/O Expansion boards (IOX) are designed to greatly expand the I/O capability of the ZT 5531. Rear-panel access to the CPU/IOX combination can be provided by rear-panel I/O (RPIO) transition boards (such as the ZT 4804 and ZT 4802.)
