This system is used to provide emergency power for: Lighting, 28VDC bus back-up and Flight instrumentation. The XL246-S is standard on all Gulfstream IVSP production installations since aircraft serial number 1278. The unit was first introduced to Gulfstream Over 1,700 units in service demonstrating an overall MTBF > 20,000 hours (Compare to the AMPS 2000A, which has never exceeded 2000 hours MTBF).
